The inductive-loop detector system is composed of one or more wire loops embedded in the pavement (the sensing element), a splice between the lead-in wire and the lead-in cable in the pull box, lead-in cable (usually in a conduit) connecting to the terminal strip in the controller cabinet, cable from the terminal strip to the inductive-loop electronics unit, and finally, the electronics unit, itself.
